Infection/Fluid collection

Am in my 5th week post op tah and have been having pain and discomfort on right side.

Thought it was me maybe id overdone it but went to gp yesterday and its either an infection behind scar or fluid collection. Am on antibiotics as first try, so giving them 48 hours but dont think they working. So looking like a trip back to hospital to have it drained has anyone else gone through similar, not sure what to expect.

So sorry to learn this! I've not gone through having it drained, but I did experience soreness behind incisions that had already "healed."  I'm still having it though my op was last year in July.

Don't give up hope, sometimes antibiotics can take a while to work.  Also, siince you're on them, do start taking probiotics to ensure that the bacterial balance in your digestive and uro-genital tracts isn't distrubed.  It would be awful if you got a UTI after this, too!

Please let me know how you get on! xx

Oral antibiotics take 36 hours before they start to work so be patient, and give it a couple more days to see if there is a difference.

Even if they do work if there is a fluid collection it may take a couple of weeks before you really start to see a difference, your body will deal with the fluid but it does take a while.
