I have to say that I've ever had anything like that happen. I'm sorry it's happened to you. It sounds just terrible. Please keep us posted as you heal.

All of us that are on pred can get this cause our immune is so low it makes us a target for nasty infections it can pop up anywhere in the body.

I'm so sorry you've had to go through all that, and hope you'll improve quickly! I've had GCL and at its worst I'd felt like I'd been bashed repeatedly with a plank on my temple, desperately painful to touch, very hot, very painful jaw. Was put on 60mg prednisone and intense pain was gone within a day, but still felt like I'd been kicked. Could you persuade your doctors to try you on Pred to see if it would help, if it does then most likely GCA, and if it doesn't well GCL will have been ruled out. They could suggest doing a biopsy but honestly I don't feel they should be done at all, too invasive and a negative doesn't necessarily mean a negative, only saying this incase a biopsy is suggested. Best of luck with it all, please let us know how you're progressing xx

i've had PMR for 5 years. Recently had jaw pain-couldn't open mouth. Steroids did not help. Painful to brush teeth. GCA ruled out. It is TMJ. nothing on internet to help. Dentist friend recommended i see a chiropractor. Have had 8 treatments. Very little pain now-only a little click sound when chewing hard. Not many chiropractors do this adjustment but well worth looking for one.
