Infection NOT CLEARING

Posted , 3 users are following.

My dad is getting over a cellulitus infection, he was admitted to hospital on the 1st september this year and remain so for 2 weeks, after being discharged he had a regular nurse come and visit to wrap his leg, the doctor said there was no need for her to come any more asthe infection was now just a swollen leg and pink skin. However since leaving it hasn't continued to get any better and today we saw a blister on his leg, we're wondering the infection will be coming back and what do you suggest we do as he is refusing to go and see anyone, (he thinks it needs time), but we are flying to New Zealand in 7 weeks and my mum is getting stressed. Plus he is scratching which can't help!!!!! Any advice???? x

    Hi there

Cellulitis is notorious for needing more than one course of antibiotics. Do hope by now that your dad has been persuaded to seek further help (have just noted the date on your posting). A blister could very easily develop into an ulcer and these can be very difficult to heal and need regular dressings.
