Inflamed Salivary Gland

Posted , 7 users are following.

I have been recently diagnosed with Sjogrens Syndrome- along with Hashimotos. I have had oral lichen planus (erosive) for the past 2 yrs .. my taste buds will sometimes become inflamed but now on one side of my lower mouth, my mandibular salivary gland is inflamed ( more on one side than the other side).

If anyone has had experience with this,

is this anything I should be concerned about ( no pain)?

Does anyone else also have oral lichen planus?

thanks

My tongue also became a problem at the same time as the OLP.  I get sores in my mouth constantly . The OLP was the beginning of a downwards spiral...I’m  hoping it ends at Sjorgens but now I’m having a lot of muscle/ joint pain . However, these inflamed salivary glands are new for me ....  ughhh it never stops.

I have SS and severe dry mouth and eyes. I lost all of my teeth three weeks ago because of SS dry mouth. My dentist has now found stones in my salivary glands under my tongue. They are quite large. He suggested not having them surgically removed at this time. My bones do not seem to be healing as expected. He is not sure with my severe dry mouth and problems that I may not be able to wear dentures or dental implants either. We will just have to wait and see what happens. I have an appointment to see ENT. I am having reoccurring sores in my ears and nose that bleed. He will also check into the salivary stones as well. Dry eyes have caused pterygium in both eyes.
