Inflammation

Hi. I have been reading MTR discussion.  I have couple of friends who suffer from autoimmune disease.  They have tried different medication eg MTR and Prednisone.  These medications have been really hard on the kidneys and liver.  Because of its high toxicty some bodies can not manage the medication.  The liver and kidneys have hard time processing it.  These are your biggest organs that detoxify the body.  If they are getting damaged by the medication.  The poor body, it has no help but get worse. I know in some people staying on medication started other problems like mental weakness and endocrine (hormonal imbalances) the list is endless.  Ladies who suffer with PMS know the pain of hormonal imbalance.  Imagine the problems with theses medications, many times worse.

I would recommend that you people do more research before messing your body with these drugs.  My friends that I talk to have made changes in their lifestyle and diet.

To ease the flare up

Go on gluten free diet, get of sugar, do not eat fried foods as much, get rid of caffeine.

Eat proteins and vegetables, the best way to describe is to go on Mediterranean diet. Do coffee enemas (read up on this it is really helpful).  Coffee enemas help the liver and kidneys to detoxify all the bad effects of the medication and give you your life back.

Take MACA powder, green tea, Vita C, herbs like sage, oregano, thyme, basil, stress free life.   Socialise and talk about things and do things to relax)

another thing that you might want to try is

Infrared  red light therapy is so great it gets rid of the disease by detoxifying the bacteria out of the body.  It get rid of all pain and Soothes the RA, and other autoimmune diseases bacteria.  The heat treatment is like natural medication without the side effects.

I hope this has helped people who are in a mess and hopefully get out of it by doing something more.  oh and Do not believe all that the health care professions tell you.  They care more about keeping the pharmaceutical in place.  When they should be treating the cause and not playing with the body to try this and that medication.

My friends have been really unhappy with the doctors treatment because they were not told facts.

I hope this help

I hope this helps.

I am sorry your friends had so many side effects but I have every faith in my Rheumatologist and have tried various changes in lifestyle with no decent result. I will keep taking my meds but thank you for giving alternatives. I am sure they will be of help to some people.

    Best wishes, Elspeth

Hi, thanks so much for taking the time to share. I too have been trying diet along with decreased meds and so far so good. That being said, I will jump right back into meds if I have a flare bc a flare is the worst nightmare I have ever had. Here's hoping diet can control this disease

LOL!  A lot of us have tried everything and nothing works for them but the biologics.  To quit them and try the holistic way, it just isn't worth the pain.

I would never depend on a holistic diet unless a rheumatologist is checking to make sure your RA factors go away.  I first take the medicines so I can live an active life but I also take them to prevent future joint damage.

I remember great grandparents who had RA back when they lived on farms and ate what we now consider clean.

I'm all for home remedies, but I'm to afraid to go off of my medication. None of us like to take the medication but you have to use a little common sense when it comes to your health and the quality of life you're living. You can still use home remedies, and at some point maybe your doctor would lower the medication you take but to go off of it would be risky

I've had RA for 30 years, and taken MTX (Methotrexate) for 20 of them I know it can damage your body, that's why we have regular blood tests. So what you are saying is, stop taking MTX and take to my wheelchair, have no quality of life, and possibly even develop a heart condition and die. Please credit us with some intelligence. We have to walk a fine line with our disease and medicines without people who think they know everything sticking their nose in and causing fear and distress to those newly diagnosed.

You are absolutely on point here. Before medicine I was limping and in such agony.  None of us like taking all the medicines but now I am able to do almost as much as before.  I had to go off all meds for shoulder surgery and I know I need them.

      Hi Kathleen

Our lives are precious.  I have been listening to lot of professional people on the medicine issues who believe in taking the alternatives.  There is lot of data out there to read and talk to people to find out what really works for you.

-------  There are few things that I find it to be interesting, one of them is asking your doctor what blood type you are and follow a diet that suit your blood type.  This can be found all on the internet.

------second is this laser accupuncture watch.

it suppose to be incredible, read about it many people are trying this product and have beneficial health results.

The only thing is affordability!!!!!!!!! and actually taking the decision to do it.

What ever you do Kathleen is your choice and you must feel comfortable in what you do, like I said, "we are precious, we need to take care of ourselves.

I hope you find a solution to better your life.

I've done my research, thank you. If a newly diagnosed person read your 'advice' they would just want to die. Do you know that children as young as 4 get this disease. Do you expect their parents to sit and watch them suffer? I don't think so. Would you expect a cancer patient to NOT have chemotherapy because it damages their body? I've had cancer and was very glad to have the treatment given, which isn't too different to RA treatment.

      Dear Cindy

      Hi

      Thank you for your comment!!!

Do you not think that doctors should treat the body's organ that is suffering rather than treating the symptoms.

Cindy, have you listen to pharmacist Ben Fuchs,

and Dr Joel Wallach for nutrition and Dr Barbara Hoffman on hormonal therapy.

      They are great!

Also another great thing that has been popular is laser accupuncture watch.  Utube it and read the reviews.[/b]

When I was first diagnosed I tried everything!  Acupuncture, reflexology, pain management yoga, I spent a fortune on all this plus vitamins, but guess what, my doctor was right.  He said I would be back begging for drugs.  And he was right!  I limped in, wanting to die and begged him for drugs.  I had to go a whole year on steroids, methotraxate and the rest and none of it helped except for the steroid shots.  Then they put me on a biologic and my whole life changed.  Back to being me.  So unless you have it and have gone through what we go through, you can't imagine.  I love it when people ask me if I have tried tumeric.  Or they say, cut up ginger, boil it and drink it everyday.  I just smile and say I'll try it.  Everybody is different and that probably works for some.  Not for me and others on this site.
