Over 10 years ago I had pulmonary embolisms in both lungs
I have flown a few times since but the longest flight I’ve done is 2hrs 15 mins
In 2 weeks time I’m flying to Tenerife which is 4hrs 30 mins and I’m worried that I’m at risk
Can anyone help with advice please?
Thanks in advance

You could always wear dvt stockings/socks, most important move your feet frequently. Move them up, down around in circles, it keep the blood moving.

I have a 10 hour flight next month after having clots in my lungs and heart 4 years ago. I spoke to the nurse at the warfarin clinic and she was really helpful. She said to move around a lot, stay hydrated and avoid alcohol, wear compression stockings (put on first thing in the morning before legs start to swell) not to cross my legs when sitting and to circle my feet/ankles and clench my buttocks ( she did say that one sounds weird but helps). Hopefully some of this will be of use to you and you have a good break.

Hi Alison
Thank you for your advice
I managed to see my GP today he was really helpful
I have 4 Fragmin injections to administer myself ... one on the day I’m flying then one the day after and the same on the return flight
Like I said to another helpful lady I’ve bought DVT socks and been shown what exercises I need to do once an hour a(apart from the buttock clenching one lol) during the flight and to also have a walk to the loo once an hour
I feel a lot less worried now 😊
