Hi everyone,
I'm 64 and have an enlarged prostate of course. No numbers but on a ct scan for a UTI it was described as "marked enlargement of the prostate". I'm taking cialis which I believe is doing a really good job with symptoms for now. I don't really drink much of anything after 8PM unless I really need it and I'm generally sleeping through the night. Once in a while a early morning trip to the bathroom is needed. I am looking for any opinions on urolift and the prostate artery embolization procedure, if anyone has had one of those done, side effects ect? One of my main goals is to protect sexual function, I'm 64 but not ready to pack it in just yet. I'm in Delaware County near Philly and if anyone can recommend a provider that would be great! Thanks!

What are your most pronounced symptoms?

Well I have been on Cialis for several years starting in my mid 50s because of some ed issues so I feel like it is helping any BPH symptoms that could be worse without it.
I had two UTIs (May 2021 that definitely affected my prostate) and then December 2021. Never had one before, not had one since. On a CT scan there was a line that stated “marked enlargement of the prostate”. But no measurements.
During bathroom trips sometimes a little slow getting started and then when finished I have to stand there for one or two stream/dribbling sessions. Also, I don’t drink anything after 8PM.
So basically I’m hoping to treat the BPH now before it has a more significant impact on my life and hopefully it will help out with the original reason I went on the Cialis, that’s not horrible but could be better.

I should add that if I try to stay somewhat hydrated during the day I make more trips to the bathroom than I would like.

Have you spoken to your urologist about tamsulosin and finasteride?
The over-simplified version..
tamsulosin relaxes the muscles in the walls of the prostate making it easier to urinate and improves flow.
Finasteride. Slows the growth of the prostate, takes about 6 months for it to really start working and stops working when you stop taking it.
Both non-surgical, and have been prescribed for years.
(I was on both meds until I had surgery)
