Information about biopsy

So I have been using Dermovate for almost 6 weeks now (once a day) and when I saw my gyn last week she was hoping that I would be able to start to cut down but we both agreed that actually things hadn't really improved that much sad.  There have been a few times were it has seemed like the skin condition was improving but then seemed to plateau, and although tears on the perinum always seem to largely heal after I have sex they are still coming back when ever I pluck up the courage to have sex...  She therefore said that if at the next appointment (3 weeks) it is still like this I should have a biopsy to confirm the diagnosis.  I have read some things about this being quite painful and am mostly worried about develping scar tissue or it not healing properly.  Any information on this?  I also wanted to go to a dance workshop the next day but I have no idea how sore it will be if at all? Also do you think you could drive home after? I am so sick of all of this...

I was not aware I was getting a biopsy when I went to the doctor and she basically scared me when she said the words. I was not sure what to expect. I did almost pass out after the procedure but that had nothing to do with pain. I mentally started to freak myself out and my anxiety shot thru the roof. I did not feel anything during the biopsy. It was very fast and easy. I drove myself home. I used aquaphor ointment on the site and it healed nicely.

After the numbness wore off I was very sore and a little uncomfortable. I laid around most of that night and kept it easy for a week.

    Best of luck!

Thanks for the information, did you have bleeding afterwards that or have to put dressing around the area or anything or was it just sore?

Then doctor stitched it and then she put a little piece of gauze on until I got home and was told to wear a pantyliner. It spotted a little bit. The stitches dissolved in their own. I think the aquaphor really helped to protect the area from urine, etc.

Ok thanks for that info, didn't realise it required stitches! I think doing dance the next day might be a bit unrealistic if I have to have it done, but have a rehearsal two days after that I would really need to go to rolleyes

It was just a stitch or two I think. I don't think I ran for about 10 days after. I don't know if you will be able to dance. I am sure some other ladies here will tell you their experiences and opinions.

Hi I had biopsy with one stitch and it took a good 3 days for the swelling to go down and 2 weeks for it to heal up. I would get someone to pick you up as they tend to give you a local anesthetic and if you like me it can leave you a little shaky. It's sore when the pain killers where off but not unbearable. See how you go but I think you would aggravate it if you do dance class just by the sweat alone. Ls is annoying at times xx
