I've been having sex with a girl for about 3 months and this just showed up. Its sore to the touch, and I'm freaking out. Can someone please tell me what this is?

    Dear taylor,

I'm not sure if it is herpes or molluscum contagiosum. Did the spots all appear simultaneously? If so, how soon after last sexual contact. Have any of the spots ulcerated?

Could you take more close-up photos of some of the lesions?

    Thanks,

    Adhari

The one that irritated showed up about a day ago, the others a few days before that but they never hurt like this one. Its hard and sore to the touch. (does not itch) ive been having sex with the same girl for about 3 months pretty regularly.

    Dear taylor,

Thanks for posting more photos. I'm less inclined to think you have molluscum, but still not convinced that you have herpes, which is typically associated with ulcers (open sores). If, over the next few days, the red spots become ulcerated then it would support the diagnosis.

At this stage, if you're feeling quite sore you should try to see a doctor to get some swabs taken (for herpes) and started presumptively on aciclovir for herpes. Aciclovir is a safe and well tolerated drug, so you won't run into any problems even if the diagnosis is wrong.

Other possibilities? It could be staphylococcal folliculitis from shaving.

Either way, get tested so you know what you're dealing with.

    Rgds,

    Adhari

Thank you so much. Going to keep an eye on it for sure. I wore a dress today to avoid any tight fitting clothes and it already looks and feels so much better. image

Herpes, epidermoid cysts, or ingrown hairs from shaving.
