Inguinal Hernia - need surgeon recommendations, London

Posted , 3 users are following.

Hi all

Just been diagnosed with a double inguinal hernia which is pretty disapointing.

Am in my late 30's and need to find someone London based who can operate

Confused over the open/closed/mesh/no-mesh situation so any advice would be also be appreciated.

    Hi Neal,

I had bilateral inguinal hernias and had keyhole (closed) surgery with mesh with no complications, and was playing golf 3 weeks after surgery. The operation was probably harder on my surgeon than on me, as she was 8 months pregnant.

    Hi Neil89141,

I've just been through this same process and chose to be treated by Mr Kurzer at the Hospital of St John's and St Elizabeth. http://www.martinkurzer.com/

I am not sure how relevant my individual experience is to you, but we are about the same age with the same type of hernia. I would simply say that I can confidently recommend Mr Kurzer. I am about 7 weeks post-op (open, with mesh), and am pleased with the results of the surgery and the pace of recovery. I would definitely recommend that you have a consultation with Mr Kurzer, even if you then end up taking the NHS option.

    Best of luck.
