Injury when waking up in a panic.

A few nights ago, i woke up in a panic around 2:30AM thinking i heard something awful happening to my dog in the other room, all i remember is sitting up and shouting to my boyfriend to wake up. i was just about to stand up when i felt a horrible surge of pain coming from my shoulder and my arm was too painful to touch, my head went so fuzzy and i had a horrible ringing sound in my ears and i shouted my boyfriend to help me but i could hardly hear myself, it sounded like i was under water. I started to cry out in pain with my arm, i was in a state of confusion because never have i woken up in pain. it felt like i had dislocated my arm but i didn't understand how that was possible and i still don't, the pain was so bad at the time i felt faint and sick, i then stood up to check my dog and i nearly fell over as i was still so dizzy.

I managed to sit back on my bed to try and calm myself down and the ringing it was ears was slowly going away. I've tried to explain this to my friends and family and they all think i dreamt it but i know it was reality and not only that but my shoulder is very painful still. Has this ever happened to anyone before? or can someone explain how you can strain your shoulder so much by just sitting up.
