Inner labia shrinking???

I am suspiciois my inner labia are shrinking. Can't tell for sure cause I don't take pictures for fear someone will find them.

They're not sticking to outer labia. It seems more like on the left side the crevice between the two Labia might be filling in. The right side possibly just shrinking. Is there anything to do about it? As far as I can tell my inner labia has no LS on it.

Yeah, this aspect of LS is the most mysterious and insidious and seems to have happened to many of us. The worst is when the two inner labia stick together and gradually zip together forming continuous skin over the clitoris.

Oh no, I think that has started to happen to me.  The inner labia seems to have been swallowed up by outer labia, with little fish like gills left so far!  I am seeing consultant about soon but doesn't sound like you can do anything about it or can you, other than dilation once it closes up!  Coconut oil supposed to help? How awful if clitorus has skin over it, as no pleasure left!

In the 19th century it was called Lichen sclerosus et atrophicus, so this atrophy aspect is a big part of LS, but because it can progress even though we're being treated and even though we aren't being driven insane by pain or itching. The way I've put the loss of sex and libido into perspective is by being grateful I'm under care and won't become like the horror photos we all freak out at when we first receive the diagnosis. My sister, a nurse, often sees very old women like that. They obviously never mentioned their undercarriage woes to the doctor.

I am a sufferer of LS. I had itching issues since grade 2 and was never diagnosed until 2008. I had never paid attention to the appearance of my vag until the diagnosis. I have absolutely no inner labia left and my clitorial hood is completely fused over. I'm 38 and had to get 3 csections because of this because I couldn't have a vag birth. I can still orgasm but the skin around the clit fissures and splits. The skin around the opening gets itchy and raw. I'm on betaderm steroid ointment that seems to make it worse so I don't know what to do. My sex life has been ruined and I don't have a very supportive partner. He wants sex and that's all there is to it. My Dr said I have the most extreme case he's ever seen. Yippie. My change in diet hasn't helped and was told it's not part of a auto immune disease. I find the only time in a month that there's some relief is during ovulation which I find weird because my Dr said it has nothing to do with hormones..... I beg to differ. Anyone have anything that helps with anything? I'm at a loss and almost ready to give up and let it take over....

I have the same. one of them is certainly smaller than the other . I try and pull it..biggrin. Needless to say it aint working..

Ive also been told it can happen in menopause..Im 50 (in t w o weeks;( and not in menopause yet, so when that comes around i'll be pulling even harder..biggrin

sex is still good, although the actual clitoral hood(?) is not as prominent as before, I can still find it. Orgasms arent not as intense though.Sorry personal stuff, eh?

That's exactly how it was with me until I hit 60, then things went south.

Thanks for the perspective. It's disheartening and distressing. I'm not in menopause yet... Scared it will worsen after menopause.

I found out I have hiroshimotos thyroid disease which is autoimmune so it seems my body is on the attack 😂

Just wish there was more to do to stop the advancement of the LS.

Well, after more than two years on here, I do know there's plenty you can do. Most of what happened to me was in total ignorance. If I'd known even by the time I was in menopause, here are all the things I did that I wouldn't have done knowing what I know now:

      • When my clitoris was starting to be irritated by the hood tightening over it I thought it was arousal and I exposed my 'parts' to a lot of bodily fluids and friction (I was single and celibate) TMI

      • When I noticed this in the mirror I thought it meant I should be more fastidious with soap and scrubbing (eek, the worst!)

      • Sugar, sugar, sugar

      • Hugely stressful job while in menopause, then three super peaceful years in semi-retirement then DATING and SEX – lots of it, while in pain for seven years. Ignoring the red flag that my psoriasis was in the worst flare ever for about four of those years.

I believe if you use dilators you can prevent some of the fusing. Doctors who say you should have lots of sex to keep things open ARE MEN. Sex means friction. Dilators used in a baking soda bath are gentle.

Thanks for sharing that. Really appreciate it.

It's so good to hear the voice of experience.

That should b Hashimoto thyroid disease!

Just for clarity, is there nothing I can do to keep my labia from melting away? It seems to have accelerated since I switched to ointment versus cream. Has anyone else noticed this or is it just coincidence?

Also, I don't treat my inner labia because I don't think I have LS on them. Is that the correct approach?

I suspect this melting away of labia is part of LS, but not the part that the drugs help. So many of us have this sort of flattening and I haven't seen anyone say there was a reversal.

I am having the same problem. The front has little areas that look like a mouse has nibbled by my clit. Other areas look creased or folded slightly. Should a person put the clobetol on the labia also--even with no white spots there? Will this help prevent further shrinking?

LS isn't just the white patches. Definitely put in all up there. Sometimes these changes happen while everything feels calm. Can't say for sure what will happen, but I've been calm around there for a year and never stopped applying the ointment. Doctors vary on this though.

Please look at the thread 'An experiment with borax.' There are hundreds of replies, but I am a borax user and have just had my regular examination with my doctor. She said 'If I ever get this (she's a dermatology specialist) I'm going to use Borax...!' And she know's it's banned here in the UK. It's tiny steps, but I am seeing seams appear where there was nothing before. Many, many women are having positive outcomes from this. Have a look, and good luck.

I've been trying to find a site that could diagnose this and I'm so happy I found this. My outer and inner labia are gone and my chorus is almost gone. What can I do about this. I feel like I'm not sexual enough and I'm so embarrassed by this I don't want to have sex. My desire has completely gone too. Is there anything to repair this.. It's a nightmare.
