inner thigh numbness?

Posted , 7 users are following.

It wasnt numb to begin with, or at least i dont think it was and im pretty sure i would have noticed because of where it is. Basically the very top of my inner thigh is numb and sore to touch. I noticed it on day 5 after my lower back spasmed and its grown since then from the size of a golf ball to the size of my fist and is spreading upwards which is a bit worrying. Nerve damage on the outside of the incision i expected but this is on the opposite side. Any experience?

i was hanging on until i see physio next week as its at the hospital where i had the op. Xray next door and the ward just upstairs. the beauty of a small private hospital is you dont get sent all over the place for different departments. if it gets any worse ill ring my gp but its not easy to get there now my husband is back at work. having done some reading im wondering if a nerve is impinged somewhere, possibly in my lower back.

Only experience I have is that thigh is sore to the touch - as if I can feel the hardware, so to speak -

but I agree with the others  - call or see your doctor first .. Physical Therpist are not MD's - it is tough Helen, to be dependant on others, I know ... you don't want to be a burden and already feel like one anyway .... take care of yourself first - warm hug

    Hi Helen,

I agree with the others, report this to your doc. A good rule of thumb is to report any sudden changes and if it grows and becomes worse, never wait for your next appointment.

Sometimes we do not want to be a bother, or do not want to be perceived as a hypochondriac or a doctor acts as if he cannot be bothered, so we hesitated and suffer. Sometimes things blow over and we are glad we did not make that call. But when things develop after major surgery it is best not to wait.

A mindset I have is that the medical profession is there for us and we are their job security. As patients, we are part of the medical team, and in fact we are THE most IMPORTANT part of that team and we have rights whether it is private pay, national health systems or welfare.

This is my soap box! Now I will stop! Sure hope your symptom is not serious and you heal well.
