Inoperable Type B aortic dissection

Does anyone know of a Consultant or Physician who is interested in the above condition? The aortic dissection is the full length from heart to femoral divide. Also thoracic aortic aneurysm. Have only seen one surgeon who could not help, then referred into care of GP's who seem to know very little about condition? Any help appreciated. Thanks

    Hi,

You could try Mr. Mark Field, Clinical Lead for Aortic Surgery and all round good egg, at the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital. He specializes in thoracic aortic aneurysms but I know he is very interested in aortic dissection. He operated on me for a pseudo thoracic aneurysm and I highly recommend him.

I'm sure you'll find an expert in the field somewhere at LHCH. Here's an excerpt from their website:

"Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital is delighted to be hosting an aortic dissection conference on Tuesday 19th September 2017 to mark the second annual Aortic Dissection Awareness Day. "

    Regards,

    Phil.

Thank you Phil. Mr Field sounds wonderful .....unfortunately I am in Yorkshire, so almost impossible to travel to Liverpool, as not in the best of health. So pleased you had a successful outcome.

      Hi J,

I live just outside Tewkesbury so had to travel to Liverpool but they really looked after me and my partner. They have a house named The Robert Owen House that is set aside for relatives staying over. My partner stayed there whilst I was under the knife and whilst I recovered post op, I think it was £25/night B&B. She was there for me all the way through. Almost from the minute I came out of the operating theater Mr. F called my partner to tell her how the op went and then she sat with me in the Post Op CCU, not that I remember anything about it. I can't praise Mr. F enough. You really should try him if you can manage it, he's very understanding. Good luck J.

      Regards,

      Phil.

    Hi,

Just came across this paper by Mr. Field and his colleagues:

"Multidisciplinary team-led management of acute Type B aortic dissection in the United Kingdom?", Google it and see what you think.
