I'm wondering if I in fact have liver disease. Or is it all in my head like my family and wife are accusing me of. Surely the pain and symptoms can't all be because of over excessive reading and self diagnosing. I've had upper right abdominal pain for about two months. For the last three weeks I've had trouble sleeping, body pains, loss of appetite, weight loss, bruising and massive aniexety over liver worries. I've had 5 Cbc and lfts from 4 different hospitals, 4 ultra sounds from 4 different hospitals and 2 X-rays and all tests and imaging have been good and unremarkable so should I move on from the liver ? Thank you

I've had liver disease (liver cirrhosis and biliary cirrhosis) for 25+ yrs.  It started out with Chronic Hep B that never went away.  You may have liver disease such as fatty liver disease or a viral hepatitis.  I'm not sure that LFTs show viral DNA loads or merely surface antigens of HBC and HBV or any viral presence at all, but it might be worth a special request.  Also an alfa-protein test may indicate if there is any suspicion of liver cancer.  You may have some biliary disease.  What I would do is request another round of LFTs and ask them to include tests for HVA, HVB and HVC.  You may also want to be tested for auto-immune hepatitis, which would require your anti-bdies also be tested.  I would also ask for a platelet count.  If any of those are out of whace, I would proceed with U/S and if you are still worried you may request a liver biopsy which is the gold bar for determining hepatic function.    I admire your tenacity because liver disease is debilitating and can be deadly.  Keep me posted.  Hope that helps.

Question... Why are you having so many tests done when its apparently obvious that there is nothing wrong with your liver (hospitals, ultra sounds, x-rays)

Trouble sleeping, pains, appetite, weight loss can be a multitide of different things including cancer. I would move on from the liver and start trying to narrow it down.

In my own opinion, it sounds like its your gallbladder. I am not a doctor nor do I claim to be one, just been battline this crap for 20 years.

(Gallbladder disease can cause everything your experiencing)

The symptoms are getting worse I'm afraid I'm going for a fibroscan this upcoming Monday and I pray the results are good so I can move on with my life and try to not risk my liver again! With all these good results is it likely my liver is ok
