Insight: HS/PCOS

I have frequent boils in my groin area that vary in size from very small to huge and painful. Every doctor I've talked to just tell me it's an ingrown hair or abscess, prescribe antibiotics and move along. I really don't think it's an ingrown hair issue. The more I read the more I think it's HS. I should also add that I have been diagnosed with PCOS. Can anyone offer insight on how you came to be diagnosed with HS?

My tell tail sign was the tunneling. It started with one spot under my arm. Then later I had a spot on my other armpit. I eventually had several spots on each arm. The cysts started to connect. I eventually started getting cysts on my inner legs and buttocks. I have seen multiple drs. The one person who finally diagnosed me was a nurse practitioner at a urgent care. I was there due to a fever and neck swelling. Turns out it was because a severe infection linked to HS. Once I had a name for the disease I was put in touch with the right people. Good luck!

Brittany, I have been diagnosed with PCOS since I was about 17, I'm 22 now. I was diagnosed with HS within the past year after seeing 6 doctors over the course of 2 years. PCOS and HS are linked!! Go to a dermatologist. They're the ones that know best about this condition. Depending on your area, you might have a doctor who specializes in HS close by! I'm finally getting surgery from a dermatologist that specializes in HS 3 hours away from home. They're hard to find but don't give up hope!!
