Clearly we are both not havinga great nightsmile  Usually my shoulder aches at night but tonight I simply can't sleep.  I took half of a pain pill and it did help me relax some.  Lately I have had a low level of anxiety at night and that is very unusual for me.  I am sorry you feel as you do.  I was prescribed sleeping pills but didn't take them.  I can't afford to wake up groggy and I was afraid that was how I would feel.

Tonight I finally got my computer out and did some work putting together our worship set at the Church.  Then I read a devotion and then saw your email.

At times listening to a relaxation app has helped.  There are a ton of them available for free.  I hope things get better for you.

Oh Jim sad  I can totally understand how you must be feeling sad

I haven't had a proper sleep since last July when this FS kicked in sad you literally do not know where to put your arm - no position is comfy...........Are you still not keen on getting any surgery for your FS? I must say my pain has eased to what it was but still keeps me awake at night - you get to dread the nights don't you? I'm also worried about the addiction my painkillers will cause so I'm now ever so slowly reducing them down - like Kerri who is also suffering with insomnia due to stopping her analgesia sad  If its not one thing its another sad and this is your second FS sad

Hope you manage to get some shut eye a bit later? Perhaps try a warm bath before bed tonight? That may help?? Its so very annoying and I totally understand - I just wish I had the answer for you sad

Try and keep your chin up - please consider surgery again - it does shorten the FS lifespan...........

Hey guys....sleep deprevation is almost worse than the pain. I think if you can get a reasonable night sleep you can certainly handle the pain just that little bit better during the day. I'm still taking  1X20mg Targin and 1X5mg Endone around 10pm and that gets me through most of the night. I tried to stop the Endone but I got no sleep, so I've decided to only take one at bedtime and I will work at weaning off them when the pain has gone. Jim....do you have strong meds? Your not just taking over the counter meds are you? I always found before my op the heat bag really soothed and if I woke through the night I went and re heated it. Linda....I discovered while your still in pain probably isn't a good time to cut back on your pain meds. Much easier to wean when we are out of pain.

surgery isnt an option yet , the docs are trying to avoid it i think , i see the doc again next week and maybe he will refer me the hospital , last time i had it , took about 18 months from start to finish , so i reckon i got another year or so , the only thing that helps me sleep at the minute is beer lol but only have that at the weekend , so friday night ile watch a movie and drink beer and cider , get drunk and wake up with the most terrible headache and numb aching arm lol but at least i will have slept , its a good job im single , i think i woud drive a woman crazy

HUH.....what budgets. Don't they give you a script, you get it filled, you pay. There is NO reason in this day and age that you should have to suffer constant chronic pain. There are a huge selection of very good pain meds on the market these days. They give you a script, you get it filled, you pay. Your medical system is allowing you to suffer.....demand a script for strong pain meds....even if you only take them at bedtime. It's just so sad you are living in chronic pain and you don't have to 😩

Awwww Kerri still no joy sleeping sad  Was hoping you would back saying 'yay had the best sleep ever' sad

Are you due to see your consultant tomorrow if? Ask him what he can suggest - think this is a common thing to happen following long term pain relief - its so not fair sad

Good luck with consultant tomorrow smile and hoping you manage good quality zzzzz , hugs always xxxx

Deffo would ask about hydrodilation then (think that's what you are talking about?) lol I also find a nice glass of alcohol (wine) helps hehe smile I take so many pain killers I never notice the hangover next day smile No only joking - I don't drink that much!

Yes deffo see your GP again - you cannot carry on without sleep and in pain.............

Totally agree Kerri - in 2015 no one should suffer any sort of pain! But I have tried most analgesics offered by my GP and nothing took away my FS pain sad perhaps I'm just a wimp!!!! Lol......was even given Morphine but still didn't do anything sad  Since my surgery though my pain has eased to what it was - nothing like that shooting debilitating take your breath away pain - more like a chronic ache and heaviness sad

Anyway hay ho hay ho we plod on!

You know what hunny??? You need to get to your doctor and ask for new meds.....because what your using  IS NOT working!!!

You need new daytime meds and heavy strong nighttime meds so you get some sleep. JIM you need the pain killers, When and only when your finally out of pain you can then wean yourself of your meds.....BUT while your in pain you need those meds. There really is no award for suffering the most pain and in this day and age there are SOOOOO many damn good painkillers on the market......you are not doing yourself any favours by suffering the pain and lack of sleep CAN cause another whole set of problems. COME ON time to get your pain under control 😘❌❌❌

i agree totally , but the doc doesnt , im gonna try for a hospital referral and see a consultant who knows more about F/S  than my doctor. i gotta have a hearing test later today , to find out if the ringing in my ears is being caused by pain or whatever , sometimes i think im falling to bits lol

You poor darlin......how long will it take to get a hospital referal for a consultant  though. Can't you go to another doctor?? Ask around your friends and neighbours and see if they can recommend a good doctor. You honestly need to get on top of this pain and you need to do it quickly Jim, You have been suffering for way too long and it will change who you really are if it hasn't already. If I was nearby I would drag you by the scruff of the neck and get you sorted......I think it's SO sad that you live with constant pain and can't seem to get suitable meds 😩❌❌❌❌

its not so simple here to change doctors , and i dont think its my docs i think the they are held by the system and have to follow certain rules , it was the same with my other shoulder , but im gonna ask about some other painkillers today

Good luck then.....and rather than ask I think you really need to jump up and down Jim. Talk their language.....tell the doctor on a scale of 1-10 your pain is constantly at an 8.... 24/7 then seems to sit on a 10 all night. It's your God guven right to get a script for suitable pain killers. AND if all else fails....CRY!!!! It works for us woman, mim sure a man crying will DEFINATELY get the docs attention 😘❌❌❌❌❌

Jim it is your right to get to see a consultant! Usually your GP will refer you right away and give you an 'easy book' written form that you take home and telephone the number on the 'easy book' form - if its like my surgery it'll be for a triage app first where they assess you & only then if they think you need to see a consultant they will search the local hospitals to find you the smallest waiting times - to get you seen quickly.......... remember it is your right! Just tell them you cannot put up with this pain any longer! And as Kerri says - cry if you have to - anything that will prompt them into refering you!!!
