Find it difficult sleeping and sore upper arm joints. Could this be the 2.5 Ramapril?

heather72097...You didn't say how long you've been taking the Rampiril. To be quite frank; I've never heard of a bp medication causing difficult sleep or sore upper joints. If you've been on the meds a short time, perhaps your body needs to adjust.

If the situation continues, it may be a good idea to consult your doctor.

Thanks for the reply. Been on the tablets for nearly 3 years. The nurse said that it is possible to have these side effects with it. Just wondered if anybody else had the same. She said I could try Amlodipine but to be honest these side effects might be worse!

heather72097...true, you could try Amlodipine, but if you read a lot of comments about Amlodipine here in the forum you may want to change your mind..but remember; everyone is different. Wha works for some, doesn't work for others.

You could also try Valsartan, or Irbesartan.

Hi Heather, I don't know about sore arm joints with Ramipril, but I certainly know about excruciating pain in legs and feet with Ramipril. I decided to stop taking it as I couldn't put up with the pain any longer, the day after I stopped taking it, the pain disappeared. I have my concerns about this drug, I also had a bad cough, that disappeared 2 wks after stopping Ramipril.

Hi Heather my side effects are sinus trouble sweating more my memory is impaired . No energy tired . And not being able to think or concentrate clearly . Muscles aching . I really feel like I'm zoned out zombie like . Been on these for 9months was on Amlodopine but I was experiencing same symptoms . I have heard they are a similar medication . My Dr didn't want to change them for me last time so I dread approaching him again. Apparently these and Amlodopine are the first ones they try you on because they are the cheapest . 😔

Thanks Sue. I know that's the way GPs work - cheapest. I'm not going to try the other one they recommended. I will monitor the Ramapril and if this continues will do some homework and see what is the best one. Hope you get something to suit too.
