Insomnia after two months

I'm going into my third month on Citalopram and although I've found it of great benefit during this period, the effects are starting to fade. I thought it was the brand, so I changed, but it's still the same. The worst side effect now is insomnia - I get about four hours sleep then I'm up with the birds. My mood has dipped again, but I think lack of sleep is a factor here.

When do you change or up your dose? It's disappointing because the med has worked so well for me, up until about three weeks ago. I'm wary of changing doses or meds. Anyone experienced similar?

The effects aren’t beginning to fade - if you’re feeling symptoms again this is a setback (blip) which is completely normal. Everyone gets them.

Recovery isn’t a straight forward line - instead its a bumpy road and you’ll get highs and lows as you recover on the meds. It doesn’t mean you’re ill again, gone backwards or the meds aren't working ..... but it actually means you are recovering.

What dose are you on? The general dose is 20mg though is varies for each individual - and it doesn’t matter what dose you take, you will still go through the setbacks.

Carry on as you are (unless your dose is incredibly low, then speak to your doctor) - but you can’t stop these setbacks and are part of recovering. Let them be and just keep going. It can take many many months before you feel completely well (took me 6 months).

When I had sleep issues I took Melatonin an hour before bed (over the counter meds) until it sorted itself out.
