Insomnia (Amitriptyline and Mirtazepine)

Hello, my insomnia started 2 years ago. I was prescribed amitriptyline first, and after week of using it I started to sleep normally. It was working for around 1,5 year. After that time my insomnia came back, so I started taking 20 mg and it worked for around 3 months. After that time I couldnt sleep even on 30 mg, so my GP prescribed me Mirtazepine 15mg. It was working for 2 weeks ( I was sleeping like a baby, but each night worse). Now I'm again after night without sleep, I'm constantly waking up, didn't had more sleep than 1 hour, but I feel ok like since i'm taking mirtazepine I have more energy and I'm more happy but I can't get decent sleep. Can I go back and see If amitryptaline will start working again ? How to do it ? Is my GP doing something wrong ?

    Those are antidepressants!

    Why they prescribed for insomnia?

      Hi apu. First my GP prescribed me Zopiclone, it worked but after I dropped it I still had insomnia. Then after that she prescribed me Amitryptyline. Maybe because I was emotionally wrecked then and I wanted to cry because I couldn't sleep single hour in a week.
