Insomnia...please...any help!

Hi Ladies,

I haven't posted for a while, although I regularly read posts...I need some help with constant insomnia...plagued with it for years.

Luckily, I don't seem to struggle with many of the 66 symptoms except this insomnia.

I take 400g of magnesium, 1000g starflower, 1000g omega, high Vit c and zinc. Menoforce sage.

I have tried two packs of menopace night time multivitamins, but didn't really help.

Have never tried prescription sleeping meds and am loathe to use herbal sleeping remedies as can't have the next morning druggy feeling!

Last night, for first time, took a sample of Pukka night time caps...not much help, now just feel heady and still didn't sleep through (may have more to do with husband having "man flu"!!!!)

I can usually eventually drop off but endlessly wake up after 2 hours...most nights probably get at most 5 hours broken sleep, on the very very odd occasion, I feel great on 6 hours unbroken sleep!

Have tried sleepy teas...yuk and nothing.

Kalms...no!

Never drink caffeine after lunch, try to get to bed at same time most nights. Try not to use screens in bed!

Have even resorted to taking Benylin night coughs which gets me off but still wake in early hours etc...

Am active, healthy and slim...make sure I get exercise and fresh air every day!

Any ideas anyone please...do get desperate for a night's sleep...as some of you know already...

Thank you jx

Hi. I share your pain. 3 hours max sleep at night. 2 kids and full time job you think I'd fall like that but no. I have now started hrt and back to my usual 6 hours but friends who not going down hrt route swear by meditation cds to fall asleep to. I know it was a man but can't for life of me remember who now. I could ask and find out.

I have had some insomnia myself and yes it is hard to deal with. I drink ginger tea and warm milk to help me sleep some times it is hard to fall asleep and i become agitated and nervous at night and restless.

I understand how you feel about stuff.

I feel your pain, my sleep can be dreadful too and like you little helps.

What do you do when you wake up? I have no problem falling asleep but if I wake anytime after 4am I struggle to get back to sleep so often get up and lay on the sofa with the mogs and a cuppa with my tablet. Friend said to try not to get up and stay in bed even if you don't go back to sleep as this will help more. Not tried it yet.

Me too Susan, although I think you're in US, and it's night?

And it was even my husband's cold disturbing me as he slept in spare room!

I managed to sleep from 11ish (after reading) till got up at 3am...had small glass of warm milk and two paracetamol...tried reading again..tried dropping off...may have dozed on and off for while...but not good enough.

Can't recall the last time I slept undisturbed...for 6 hours...can be debilitating...also end of my tether

No idea what to do or take to help this awful endless pattern.

      Yours Jx
