Have had shingles since April 23...intense pain and itching have mellowed but I have days like today when I feel like sleeping all day, very low energy. Taking vitamins and eating well but this tiredness is scaring me...anyone else. I know my body is trying to illimate this virus. I still have a bit of the rash left but Thank God less pain and itching.Hope each of you are improving 🌻

HI Claudette. You are only into your fifth week and tiredness is part of the disease. I was at least two months before I was even beginning to feel normal although I still suffer from PHN after ten months. Some get over it in Four weeks and some six weeks and longer. I started taking vit B 12  1250 mcg and vit D3 2000 to build my immune system.... I didn’t start them til I was probably around 6 weeks but did feel better after being on them for a couple of weeks. Just rest when your body is telling you to and this too shall pass.  Wishing you a speedy recovery

Sounds like you are doing everything right so now try and go with the flow and let this virus take its toll...It’s hard to drag through this and depression can accompany with it. I did get days on and off when I felt depressed and just wondering how long it would last. But I did pull through and so will you. What is your weather like where you live? If you can get outside for a short walk or just sitting in the garden or in your porch might help you with your depression.   All the best to you

I’ve had increased fatigue and sleepiness ever since my bout with shingles 18 months ago.  Fortunately, I’m retired so I can sleep late most mornings and take a nap if I need to do so, but it’s definitely been a factor.

    Hi Claudette,

The fatigue, exhaustion and depression are all part of Shingles. It sounds as if you are doing everything you can to help yourself. If the depression continues, you may wish to speak with your physician about it for an evaluation. You have had the disease for five weeks, so these symptoms are still expected. However, if you cannot handle the depression, if you feel too much despair, please see your physician straight away. That is never normal. There are antidepressants that truly help, plus counseling that also helps. I have been through profound dark depression, so I know.

Please keep us posted. You will improve. Healing from shingles is a process.

    Best Wishes

    Merry Juliana
