Intermediate/Near vision getting slightly worse as eyes heal?

Posted , 6 users are following.

I have two toric Eyehance lenses, one with a spherical equivalent of 0 (done three weeks ago) the other with a spherical equivalent of -.25 (done five weeks ago).

It may just be my imagination, or it may be because I've started to wear readers more often (mainly when surfing my iPad at night), but my intermediate/near vision seems slightly worse than it was a couple of weeks ago. As my kids would say, is that a thing?

My understanding is that the large majority of the healing from the surgery should be done at 3 weeks, but my optometrist says that he has seen eyes that have changed as long as 5 weeks after surgery. I suspect that your eyes are likely just still healing from the surgery.

early PCO? what power readers are you using for surfing the ipad?

I do have slight PCO in the right, but my vision was doing so well that he didn't feel YAG was necessary. I'm not too concerned at this point, and it may just be a matter of my eyes still healing as Ron said. I have an appointment 2/3, so I'll probably wait until then unless my vision continues to deteriorate. I have a couple of readers lying around. One is 1.25, the other 1.5. Either one gets the job done.

i was just curious, because I was under the impression that your vision could only get better as your eyes healed (barring PCO and other complications).

I haven't ruled out that it could be psychological either. I wasn't using readers the first few weeks. Only the last week or so. So did I start using readers because my near vision was deteriorating a bit, or do I just perceive that my near vision is deteriorating a bit because of the improvement I experienced with the readers?

my near vision deteriorated quickly. 4-6 weeks due to early PCO. far vision held up for a long time.

Did you know what caused your early PCO? Did you get a YAG laser treatment? If so, how were the results?

i was 43. i had PSC cataracts. i did not get YAG. the PCO is now severe . let me post a pic of it at 4 years .image

Three weeks isn't much healing time to be honest. Not at all unusual (unfortunately) to still be seeing some changes at that point.
