Internal Scar Tissue Is Ruining My Life!

Posted , 48 users are following.

Around 3 or 4 years ago I had my appendix removed as they thought it was inflamed, they inflated my stomach and put a camera through my belly button to see if it was and it actually was not but as a safety precaution they removed it anyway to avoid it happening, the surgery was key hole.

The surgery was a complete botch job so to speak and I was left with an organ infection and trapped air bubbles in my body. Although this caused me problems within the first couple of months it eventually settled down and I was able to start living normally again.

What hasn't improved at all however is the internal scar tissue that I have from where my appendix has been removed, I thought it would go away in time but its just getting in the way of everything I do in day to day life. Standing up and sitting down causes pain, going to the bathroom to pass urine and excrement causes pain, walking causes pain and also so does breathing, another thing that it is effecting is my relationship with my partner as pain that I get in my side when having intercourse is putting me off of doing it all together.

The doctors told me that the scar tissue may have healed and netted itself to my surrounding organs which is why I could be having this pain but its just absolutely ridiculous that I'm expected to just cope with it when it makes the simplest of things hard.

I'll be ringing my doctors within the next few days as they are currently shut so for now I hoped I could get a few answers from anyone who might know how to help, when I go to the doctors will there be anything that they can do with the scarring being internal? If there was anything they could do then I would do it, if there was some kind of surgery to cut away excess scar tissue would that be an option? (That said I know that would probably cause more scarring if such a procedure even exists)

Any help on what routes I could take would be extremely valuable to me and I welcome any help you may have to offer.

Thanks for your time,

Jess.

Guys - I have read all of your posts - I just want to say the scar tissue is pulling on nerves and/or muscles and that is why you are expericing the pain. Removal of the scar tissue can create more scar tissue - try acupunture, serrapeptase, or see a nerve surgeon, Google peripheral nerve surgeon. I had a hysterectomy, the ilioinguinal, iliohypogastric and the genitofemoral nerves were damaged, I did have the hysterectomy though key hole surgery. I was in SO much pain! NO scan showed anything! My OBGYN kept saying it was scar tissue and threw her hands up in the air. I finally found a nerve surgeon in Washington DC, who blocked the said nerves and I was painfree, but the pain did return. He then did a nerve resection surgery and now the area is numb but I have to rehab the muscles, it has been over a year and I am still in rehab! It has been very expensive, but the problem most Dr. don't realize or think about is the nerves! Get a good nerve Dr to find the right nerve and block it, sometimes this can stop the pain signal. There are a handful of Dr's who also perfrom hydrodissection where they release the nerve from scar tissue by injecting a solution (usually sugar water and lidocaine) around the nerve. I had this done on another nerve and it did work. Good luck! Stay out of the OR if you can.

How are you feeling now after the hydeodissection surgery?  I noticed that the 1st surgery was only done with lidocaine, im guessing that was to make sure that blocking the nerve temporarily would locate the nerve that was causing the pain, yes?   So you are numb?  Would you do it again?   How are you feeling.  I am in way more pain than I was before my hysterectomy from Endometriosis.  I cannot sit or stand up without horrid pain, this procedure sounds great! Thanks so much, I hope you are feeling better!!! -Amy

I also have scar tissue and all the pain. I finally found on the internet the enzyme serrapeptase. I bought the high potency and took it before getting up, in the afternoon, in the evening, and at night. Aftrm3 days my pain was so much less. I continued taking it form10 days and the pain was gone. BUT after 10!days I was extremely exhausted and started getting nausea and had a bad itch skin reaction (I suffer from hives and allergies for many years) on my chin and chest,so I stopped taking it. I waited one week and took it again and had a bad allergic reaction, so for now I will take a long break from it and hope that the serrapeptase did reduce my scar tissue and the pain will not come back. If the pain returns I will start with a very low dose to see if I can tolerate it. So far the pain has been gone for three weeks. So I recommend that maybe it's best to see a natural doctor to regulate it and start you off with the correct does. I do not suggest taking a high dose all at once.

Ok, would love some more input on this. I had a burst appendix about

    25. years ago, no real issues up till about 1 yr ago; then, a strange sensation

Near the scar site, (lower R abdomen) along with some urinary issues began,

what now feels like a side ache, with continued urinary issues (urinary symptoms

are now skewed, due to medications). I have had every possible test, bottom

Up, top down, ultra sounds, 2 CAT scans, several x- rays, EVERYTHING COMES

OUT A-OK. Yet, symptoms continue & worsen, add in a general feeling of

Fatigue and general malise, I'm not having any fun. ( also, abdominal bad-

Feeling seems compounded by food ingestion). Sounds like possible adhesion

Issue, my next appt with Gastrointerolgist a month away, any input? I just feel

Crappy, and tired of it. Thanks.

Yes, the same thing happened to me, scar tissue is back.  I read about serrapeptase. Google,it. It works but I have an allergy to it which most people don't. It's an enzyme that can break down scar tissue.

?I'm so happy to read that you are doing better. My mom has been suffering with the same thing for 4 years now. We are certain she has scar tissue from a colon surgery she had 10 years ago. However we are unable to find a Dr willing to do surgery to remove the adhesions. We are in Missouri may I ask who did your surgery for you?

    Any help is so appreciated

I am suffering mysterious pain after operation, so suspect it's scar tissue. However, I googled about internal scar tissues and it seem they don't show up in scans. May I ask how did you confirm that it's internal scar tissue? What test or scan did you request from your GP? Thanks.

I had every available test and saw 9 different doctors over 6 months. No test showed my adhesion's. I convinced my surgeon to operate to see what was going on,because something was very wrong. Once I was opened up the doctor found that the adhesion's had twisted my intestines all up and detached my Koch pouch. Unfortunately this has happen 2 more times since my original 2013 surgery.  Not a long term solution, but living with that pain is unacceptable to me.  Hope this helps.

Me too!! I am experiencing the EXACT same thing following 3 endometriosis removal surgeries.  I cannot stand up or sit down or. End over without terrible pain.   How are you did you ever have a new surgery to remove?

Hiya jess. I had my gallbladder removed, appendix removed , hysterectomy with ovaries also removed years ago. I was full of endometriosis so i cant have hormone treatments or it can come back. I was given a hormone treatment 7 years ago which caused excruciating pain. Thats when they said i couldn't have hormone treatment. I have been told ive got lichen sclerosis and had cream for that but i have been in constant pain for the 7 years. Its getting worse and i can hardly walk. I cant sleep , i get hot sweats , hurts to sit down, i have to crawl to toilet at night. I have had test upon test and a mri scan but nothing is showing. I have been told i will have to live with it and the pain will never go but they wont say what the pain is. I can only take paracetamol as have anything else makes pains worse . Please if anybody has any ideas on what it can be then please say as im at my wits end with it all. Thanks
