Hi I'm Jess....had a akin and scarf procedure to both my feet the same time.i just wanted to get it out of the way at once.
I work with kids and like sports....so I'm very active....its hard to resist the urge to jump down from the bed and start running.
But keep thinking the results will be worth it in the end.
So rest, elevate, and keep your mind occupied.
I loaned a wheel chair which has come in very handy.
Ladies if your having done soon or recovering please dont believe everything you read, you will get through it and have gorgeous feet at the end.😃.👣

you forgot the men!
there are so many different procedures, surgeons, MIS, full invasive surgery, and feet so the permutations are huge.Â
How do you cope with pain?
how do you cope with boredom?
get organised, and enjoy your 'me' time.
i found knitting helped, started 3 different projects the week before the op so I wouldn't get bored with one of them. Sitting straight up, knitting, with feet higher that your waist/bust line = flat stomach!
so having your feet up isn't that bad.Â

So fair I have had hardly any pain (touch wood)....throbbing,aches,sometimes pin needles all bearable....dont like to take pain killers unless I have to!lol.
Boredom....as you said you find tasks to busy you...with an object or goal to reach so helps your mind.
Truly I make up as go along.
Have a list of to do and pick at random.
Tell me about you?😊.
What are you having done?
How you feeling?
Got your daily routine worked out?
Get out the house?
Visitors?
Happy feet 👣 xxx

I have a couple of questions you may be able to help me with... (Getting nervous now it's less than 48hrs to op!!)
Have you got my advice on showering?
And how easy is it to get up and down the stairs?!!
Will I be given pain killers?/ will I be in loads of pain?!!
Any other good advise you can give me before I go under?!!
Thanks for your help! Comforting to know other people have been through this! I know I am going to be bored and desperate to get out the house and exercise!!

Bless you,you will be ok.
It feels like a dream when its happening to be honest.
You may have couple or few hours to wait on the ward before you go down...depending on the queue.lol.
Showering......
Shower chair is a must!!
Bags over your feet work just as well as those expensive foot shower bags.
Set the shower area up.....
Have shower gel, shampoo, hair brush, toothbrush, razor all in reach.
Stairs......
I bum shuffle up backwards.
And bum shuffle forwards way down.
And drag my crutches up next to me...resting the stairs.
Oh and have a small shoulder bag to carry bits around with you.... Eg pain killers, phone, ipod, pen paper, snacks
Maybe a sports bottle so you can carry own drink.
They will give you plenty pain killers hospital.....paracetamol,morphine,ankle blocks (last 12 hours)
Me personally I stopped taking pain killers 2 days after the op. I have minimal pain.....throbs,aches,mild burn/warm sensation the op site. But I don't like un natural substances.
You will decide as you go along what works for you doesn't work, what you can tolerate.
But personally I have been through worse pain with other things.
