Intimacy and life after being diagnosed.

Heya team,i was diagnosed with hsv 2 about 2 weeks ago and I finally feel almost back to normal and am recovering from my first ever OB. It was a huge roller coaster ill tell you! Got the flu then bv then My period then thrush and last but not least hsv all in the matter of a week! 😭 My partner and i have been together for over 4 years now (1 daughter who's going on 3) we adore each other but we're both scared as he's not yet been tested and he's been so distant since i told him(he's not with a doctor here yet and it's going to take 3 weeks to register him) i want to be intimit with him again and just feel normal but don't know how to approach it nor do i know much about it. I'm also terrified i might give it to my daughter as i suffer from dermatitis so have 2 sores on my hand. Ahhhh any solid facts or handy relationship ideas would be muchly appreciated

Cheers scared rabbit

That is scary, I'm just going through the phase of getting confirmation but it's already created tension and distant between me and my partner. I hate this

Hey Tasha, i know and there's such a stigma about it too! I've probably had it for 5+ years and it's just been dormant. Has your partner been tested? Because the standard std test doesn't go into hsv very well.

Hope you get threw it x

Yes it's such a horrible stigma to it. He hasn't gone yet because of insurance his doctor won't see him until April, my insurance isn't effective until April also. But I was like "to hell with this" and I went and paid to go see a doctor today. She said it looks like herpes bit said my symptoms were A-typical and couldn't figure out why I didn't have any swollen lymp nodes. She took a sample of it and told me I would have to wait 7 days to get the results back.

I really think because it's so freshly new for the both of you that you guys should educate yourself to the fullest and communicate with one another. As long as you are aware of your body, you guys can still spice it up and be intimate..

Damn!! That sucks, I'm glad i live in nz... under 25s have funded doc appointments and we don't need insurance for everything. I presume your from somewhere in America?

Unfortunately it's not that easy, her works days and I nights so we tend to only see each other 1/2 days a week even though we live and sleep in the same house. It's horrible because secretly i feel it'd be easier if he did have it but I'd feel so guilty if i gave it to him.... sigh
