Intravenous antibiotics and liver damage

i have got breast cancer and have had 2 sessions of FEC chemotherapy. A week after number 2 i had to go in to hospital with an infection. i was given tazocin intravenous antibiitics for 5 days. unfortunately thus has upset my liver function with ALT levels more than 12 times higher than normal. has this happened to anyone else, does it return to normal and how long . also what is the alternative if this happens again. until my liver function is normal again it jeapardises my chemotherapy.
