Intresting. I just had the ablation operation 2 days ago, and it went great!! The doctors have a feeling my svt is gone forever, but i am not going to raise my hopes because many people have to have more then one ablation done as it can reoccur.

I am 15 and the svt started when i was 12, at first i thought it was my falt, and people told me it was stress, but then i found i they wrong. My svt really does affect my life. it usually happens 3-4 times a week if not more, and lasts for more 4-6 hours, but once it has lasted for more then 24 hours. And the weird thing about my attacks are that when they do happen, my heart beat is then irregular and goes from 40bpm-140bpm in less then a second!

does anyone else have this problem? i was told that it is very strange for someone of my age to have irregular hearts beats during the attack, please email, even if its just to chat about svt related subjects.

From Emma.

    Hi Emma

Glad to hear your operation went great.

I have suffered from SVT from over a year now and have just received a date for my op.

I am 25 and absolutely dreading the op, the thought of needles petrify which i know is really silly at my age!:D

I would be eternally garteful if you could explain in a bit further detail what exactly happens to put me at ease.

Hope your feeling well at the moment

    Olivia:ok:

Hi Olivia, I have my op 3 years ago when I was 32 years old, and if it makes you feel any better I was and still am petrifyed of needles. The staff at John Radcliffe were fantastic when I explained my phobia and really put me at easy. They also gave me "medical G&T's" to help calm me during the op. If you explain to the staff I am sure that they will be very understanding - I hope all goes well for you. Jane

Hi All, just to let you know I have had svt since 1999, first of verapamil & amiodrone stopped it, but then they did not. Was put on Flecinande which worked, just had first ablation end of Mar 07, but only worked for 5 days, now waiting for second one. I like previous people do't like needles, but just explain to doctors, and they will help.

Hi, I had my oblation in 1991 and have been in perfect health since, prior to that I used to take a concoction of drugs which made me feel so bad.

Good luck to those of you waiting to be 'fixed' let me tell you, it is well worth it.

    regards Syg x
