Intrusive thoughts - Sertaline 75 mg

Posted , 5 users are following.

Hey guys,

How's everybody doing today?!?!? I hope you're all good.

I've been having these weird intrusive thoughts ever since I started Zoloft. A lot of fears and harmful stuff, but they don't bug me that much honestly just want to know if they'll pass as a side effect.

I've been on Zoloft for 5 weeks, 3 days on 75 mg.

I called my Dr and he said you don't have OCD or anything, just anxiety and it will pass just a side effect from the Zoloft.

Has anybody experienced this guys?

Yes I struggle with these silly thoughts and went to CBT today it was put down to my heightened anxiety. They are horrible but try to rule them out with positives . Started taking interest in the last few days of the world around me . 6 weeks on sretaline 9 days on a 100 mg . We have all got too keep punching

Thanks James! I'm trying to stick it out, this medication sure does have some side effects and takes ages to work! But I hope it can do the trick ^,^

Hey, hang in there. It honestly took me about 8 months before I felt what I will call normal. My anxiety manifested in driving meanly and with health issues. I am feeling Almost 100%. Although I let my anxiety get so bad that some things became learned behaviors and I have to retrain myself not to be afraid. For example if I have an intrusive thought I have to learn to just push it out instead of focusing on it. So of course if it's anything extremely harmful contact your doctor but please don't be discouraged. I waited 6 years to take something for anxiety I took two things before this and this has been a miracle for me. Good luck

Hi samchen.   I get this too, it’s super annoying isn’t it.  Sometimes I feel like I’m stuck in my own head and just can’t focus outwards I’m so obsessed with figuring out my thoughts it’s an exhausting battle.   I do know it will get better and the sertraline is responsible for a lot of this weird stuff along with the anxiety so it’s a case of trying to stay rational and not let it overwhelm us which is hard at times.   I’m 4 weeks 50mg and doctor suggested this morning I double up to 100mg which I’m really not keen on doing just yet, I think I will give it a few more weeks at 50 and see how noisy my mind is by then.

      Hey Laura,

thanks for your reply as well. I'm always reassured by you guys on the forum.

My dr has suggested that I double as well from 50 to 100 but then changed his mind to just 75mg and to see what happens. I called him again today and he said these thoughts are from the heightened Anxiety which "can" be caused by Zoloft. But it will all go away.

He also mentioned that making things worse a bit with Zoloft is most of the time a good sign. Lets stick it out together and hope for the best :D!

      Appreciate it,

      Sam

Think you've made the right choice . I'm on the road with 100 but think 75 may have been better. But like the doc says the pass and come out the other side .Reading all that has been posted gives me belief and hope in this drug . James
