intrusive thoughts zopiclone withdrawal

Was forced to abruptly stop zopiclone after 12 years in January when GP retired, since then had have awful intrusive thoughts and anxiety. Tried every thing, CBT, mindfulness, various therapists, distractions nothing works or helps. Just wondered if anyone else had the same and when they eased as withdrawal seems to go on for well past a year. Have reluctantly started low dose citalopram in desperation. Does seem to be helping bit with anxiety so hopefully eventually help them. Saw another GP who referred me to psychiatric centre decided not to go anyway, have since discovered was dementia clinic, no one admits withdrawal causes these dreadful symptoms!!!!!
