Invasive Ductal Carcinoma

hello . I am at a dilemma and I'm praying someone can help me . I was first diagnosed with dcis which then later was diagnosed as invasive ductal carcinoma after more testing.

I have always been petrified of the cancer word / chemotherapy. At first I just thought they were going to do a lumpectomy which I had and lymph nodes were negative praise God, and radiation which I have not started yet. But now I am understanding that they are wanting to do chemotherapy as well.

I have her2-positive, estrogen and progesterone negative. I have stage 1, grade 1. can anyone out there tell me, is it a normal procedure to have a horrible treatment such as chemo for this type of cancer? the size of the cancer was only 2 mm. Very small. I am so very afraid to take radiation and chemo since I have other issues such as tinnitus and skin burning. and am afraid that it will make these issues worse. There are some things that are worse than death. So if there is a doctor, specialist, or just anyone who has been through the same thing, could you please give me some kind of advice as to what to do? I'm very, very upset of the possibility of chemo. I have heard so many horror stories. Thank you ahead of time for your advice!

Terrie you must talk to your consultant oncologist about all your fears especially the tinnitus and skin burning. The lump may have been only 2cm and the lymph nodes negative which are both good points but the idea is to stop any cancer that hasnt been discovered from spreading. The chemo is tailored to suit your requirements. Its not the same dosage for everybody.

Dont listen to horror stories. There are so many good outcomes as well.Do discuss this with your own physician.
