I had lens replacemeny due to cataracs 15 months ago. Have a symphony in right dominant eye. left eye i have a tecnis multifocal add 3.25. Really wish I would have just done symphony in both and just use readers when necessary . I would love to get a lens exchange on my left eye to match my right eye. I did have yag laser done so is it still possible? Any advice would be greatly apprecited.

if you have done YaG then lens exchange is risky because the vitreous gel is exposed.

why do you want to exchange?

I did not realize how much of a dead zone a multifocal lens would have. And my vision from 3 to 10 feet is awful with this mode multifocal lens

Hi George my own surgeries were about same time frame as you (summer 2017). I have Symfony both eyes. Was thankful surgeon said reading is better with both done with Symfony as after first surgery my left eye (u operated at the tome) took over for reading. Better now.

If you've had a YAG it is much riskier to have an exchange. Best person to advise would be a specialist in lens exchanges.

A multifocal provides 2 focal points do i have heard that zone between the 2 focal points can be blurry. Does your Symfony eye compensate though and take over that mid zone as that is where Symfony really excels in.

i had cataract surgery done in August and September of 2018. My right eye has a Symfony lens and left eye Symfony Toric lens. i an very pleased to say that I have great vision now at all three distances. I do not need glasses at all. I would suggest that you consult with a very experienced lens exchange doctor. If he feels he can do the lens exchange safely, i would recommend the Symfony lens for your other eye.
