ipads in hospital

Good morning Hippies and like me Hippies to be, its friday and I hope everyone has that Friday feeling.

Just a quick Q, can I take my IPad into hospital with me, I need to take you guys with me for luck, help support and to stop me from running [if I could] away.

Is it something I have to ask at my assessment.

Sue

I took mine with me and accessed the hospital internet easily . I am sure you will have no problems ,

I watched things during the long nights to keep me entertained lol

    Hi sue,

You can pretty much take what you want into hospital, within reason. Obviously there is the question of security as things like iPads are a very lucrative item for thieves. Most rooms have a lockable box so you might want to ask to have it locked away when you go down for surgery and it would be left unattended.

Some hospitals have wifi which you have to purchase, if it's not a 3G iPad.

It's great to be able to keep in touch with the outside world, especially during the long nights when you might be struggling to sleep.

    Take care.

    Hi Sue,

Definitely ask at your assessment. I was told NOT to bring in items of value as there is no secure place to put them. This includes my phone which, I was told, should be brought in by my husband during visiting. Considering that he will probably be too ill to be able to visit me, that's just really annoying. The point is that all hospitals will have their own practices.

    Good luck

    Hi Sue

I took my IPad into theatre with me...had my headphones on listening to music. When I got back onto the ward no-one knew the wi-if password so Internet was no use. Good job my phone had 3G!

Try not to worry about the op, it's nowhere near as bad as you think it will be. I am a total coward & I did it! You will be fine & will get loads of helpful advice from those of us who have already been there, some more than once!

That's just reminded me, when my daughter found out I wasn't having a general anaesthetic, she asked me to take my iPad into the operating theatre so I could FaceTime the whole thing to her lol.

I wont tell you what my reply to that was 😂

I was told in pre op booklet not to bring mobile phone. When I asked a nurse she said just keep it on silent. Hope you have wifi as like others said it passes the nights if sleep is elusive. Good luck with your op. When daughter was there when I got my date and she said went white. Spend some time on preposition for after op and take all the good invitations that you feel up to.

All the very best with your op.

All hospitals have different policies. I was encouraged to take phone in, could take iPad but no wifi for patients currently. Hospedia TV etc was at the bedside
