IPL Laser Treatment

I found out that laser treatment can be used for cold sores to shorten the duration of an outbreak. Could this also work for genital Herpes I wonder? I have a home IPL hair remover and I'm pondering it's use right now.

So.... just zapped the nasty pair of blisters in my anus a few times. It burned a little. Nothing too extreme. Time will tell if it actually works! Or, worryingly, gets much much worse. 🙁

are you taking valtrex while you have your outbreaks? if not i suggest you go to your doctor and get prescribed some. i wouldn't think lazering the sores is good for them, it could make them scar

Laser treatments can be a trigger for some people, since it causes skin trauma. I have never heard of it as a way to make oral/genital herpes sores heal faster. I agree with Maddy. Better to be on the daily meds at the time as a prophylaxis, and beware of the potential for scarring (may or may not, I don't know).

I had no antivirals and felt the outbreak was too far gone for them to have much effect so I gave the docs a miss. Anyway, I gave the blisters another zap straight before bed and I'm happy to say I slept really well. The itchyness and burning sensation which had me going nuts the night before has gone, the little swollen blister bumps have practically disappeared and I just feel a slight soreness in the area now. Whether this is just the outbreak coming to its natural end I really can't tell, but they usually last longer than this so I'm happy. 😊

I used an IPL laser around my genitals (when I wasn't having an outbreak) practically every day for a month or so, and my herpes is cured! Not so much as a tingle ever!
