Iron deficiency anaemia

I have recently become anaemic, I suffer from uterine polyps that have been 'quiet' for about 6 years ever since menopause, however about a week ago I started bleeding heavily, the past couple of days I am so tired, wobbly on my feet and look as white as a sheet, also heartrate is up a bit, anyone out there who has experienced the same or similar? and what happened regarding treatment were you put on iron tablets etc? I know I have to see the doc and will be ringing her tomorrow but am sitting in bed fretting about it. Thanks.

have you made your appointment with the doctor yet?
as you know, anaemia makes you tired so once the doctor sorts that out you should start to perk up.
this must be very worrying for you to feel so rotten - i hope that it gets sorted out quickly.
please keep us informed.
best wishes

also hope that they resolve the underlying problem that is causing the anaemia.
please take things easy (OK you don't have much choice since you are so tired)...
indeed, illness can take a long time to recover from and really gets in the way of work and other commitments, but concentrate on getting better. when you are up to it, treat yourself to watching films/listening to radio drama / reading / other low energy activities.
wishing you all the best and plenty of patience over the next few months.

It's very frustrating not being able to do much, I do quite a lot of walking normally as I have 2 large dogs, fortunately hubby is able to walk them.

My GP wanted to send me for a transfusion but I refused it, I asked if we could delay it as the bleeding had stopped, unbeknown to me he gave my husband a letter to take to A&E if needed, I was put on high doses of iron which i am still taking, I haven't had a follow up blood test yet though.

Hello my name is Mia I'm 24 years old. I have a 5 year old son my only one and I've been trying to get pregnant for my second one but I just can't get pregnant...since I gave birth to my son I was diagnosed with thyroid disease hypothyroidism and anemia. I lost control of my menstrual periods. Which means I have heavy periods. I have had three menorrhagia in three years 2013 was my first one 2014 was my second one had my first blood transfusion in a D&C surgery 2017 was my third one had blood transfusions and I'm anemic I barely found out that I have a polyp on my uterus and I'm really scared and I've been having a lot of cramps and my back is been hurting so much and I feel the pain in my ovaries all the way to my knees it feels like something's burning it hurts a lot.. I went to my provider she scheduled me for my OBGYN . My question are polyps cancerous? am I going to be able to have kids more in the future? I'm so scared cuz I really want it baby. A lot of people tell me I'm too young to have this health issues but anything can happen.

Hi Mia, I am so sorry you have got all these problems, I was diagnosed with polyps as well I think I was in my early 30's and was told at the time that as a general rule they are not cancerous, you will quite possibly be booked in to have it removed and hopefully that will be an end to your awful periods and also hopefully you will be able to have more children, is your OBGYN appt soon? there is nothing worse than having to wait and wait.
Let me know how you get on, try to think positive.
Take care
Phoebe xx

Doctor's emergency. It may not be anemia.
