Iron infusion

Hello

  • Not sure if I'm posting this in the correct place but I have read all of these responses and stories regarding iron infusions and feeling very unwell after.

This is actually a very serious issue which needs to be corrected.

I had had many infusions over the years and all were fine. Then last year I had one and ended up with all of the above symptoms - nausea, headaches, muscles aches, unable to walk due to weakness, heart palpitations, extreme dizziness. All of these symptoms went on for weeks. The issue occurs as an adverse reaction known as hypophosphatemia.

Your blood serum phosphate levels need to be checked and monitored if experiencing these symptoms.

I hope this helps someone out there.

It took me a long time to recover from this reaction - months of taking phospahte pills to correct it. Basically a waiting game for those out there who may also be experiencing this.
