Iron supplements and toxicity?

Hey everyone, I have a question to ask.

If one iron tablet contains 67.5 mg of elemental iron, how many can you safely take a day and how many is considered too much to the point it becomes toxic? I am about 100 pounds.

Thanks!

Generally it is taken one per day as we all know. However what is the max limit could be written in its brochure enclosed in the bottle package.

I take one a day. 65 mg. equivalent to 325 mg.Ferrous Sulfate. Not sure how many you can take a day, but I assume no more than 2 a day!

Hi Sara, why do you need an iron supplement?  You should get enough in your normal diet. As you are quite light one iron tablet would be enough and may even be slightly over. Personally I would not take extra iron unless there was a very good medical reason.

One tablet is enough Sara.   Unless your doctor is recommending a higher dose of course.   High doses of iron can lead to heart attacks and liver damage but you are also likely to be extremely constipated if you take more than one tablet a day.

    Dont even think about it.

Do you think you are anaemic? or.....?
