Irregular Heatbeat / Blood Pressure

Posted , 13 users are following.

Some times when I take my blood pressure my machine shows irregular heartbeat which doesn't help my blood pressure any. I read 34 symptoms of menopause and irregular heart beat is one NOW what the heck does they mean? Does our hormone control everything from brain to heart to our downstaris! Does any one else get that occassional irregular heartbeat?  My blood pressure is crazy some times it is HIGH and then other timess its fine and then other times it in between both! I refuse to take blood pressure meds I use magnesium, beet root powder and dairy! Like when my fear and panic is high like about two weeks ago at my primary care doctor it was 185/103 and trust me its been much higer than that. I also have the white coat high blood pressure, man will I ever have a life of feeling well and human!

    Hi Carol

I had a similar experience at menopause after having a good blood pressure reading most of my life. I began to feel headachy and have some vision issues. It is hard to explain but I just did not feel right. On checking my pressure at home it was showing between

140/90 to 147/90. I went to GP and eventually had a 24 hour blood monitor fitted to check readings over a period of time. This was showing serious spikes on my blood pressure, part of it was white coat syndrome I suspect, but also I did not feel right. I am now on a low dose of blood pressure meds, called Candesartan 8mg. It was trial an error with a couple of medications to see what agreed.

I don't like taking tablets, but the alternative could be damage to the heart or stroke. My mum suffers from heart disease and my grandma did too, so it can be hereditary, and so I was well aware it could affect me at menopause.

I am in control of my blood pressure now, but am now dealing with digestive problems! Food intolerance - menopause can be a real challenge. But we mustn't let it beat us!

    I wish you well.smile

Good to hear of your experience, Sue. Having seen what my mum went through as she hit menopause, it prepared me and I am able to make more informed choices about my health.

Periods do have a protective factor for women, so it is difficult to take all the blows that come with menopause.

I hope you are able to adjust your medication dosage in time. 😊

Thank you chuck I feel the more we understand the better we can cope I am a great believer of alternative medicines but I do know there are times when we need the conventional meds too I am on citalopram but I am also taking alternatives such as essential oils so evntually once these build up in my system I can come off them too x

Hi carol please consider meds for high blood pressure your bottom figure is high and that bottom figure is when your heart is at rest so its working harder. I am not trying to frighten you but it does need looking at. eight years ago my bp 200 over 119 and the walk in doctor did it three times he told me to go to my gp when I did go a few days later she went balistic that he let me walk out of the centre (it was a weekend when I went to see him) I have been on candesartan for eight years and want to reduce them but because im going through the menopause and anxiety she wants to keep me on the dose a bit longer. I have the palps the fluttering heart beat the missing heart beat and all the other symptons there are actually seventy odd symptoms so how great it is to be a women lol. even if you start on a low dose until you find an alternative as there is for high bp it is something I would seriously consider my love

Hello I thought I was alone, last week I left work rushed to to the doctor my pressure was 170/100 I was in full panic...this one was the worse I had it last for what seems like hours...went to the ladies room to give urine and my menstrual came down...im starting to see a pattern when ever my cycle changes is when my hormones are at its worse...my cycle changes seems like every season winter spring fall summer....I was getting palpitations frequently just before I had a panic attack...and very off balanced....it's like a month or 2 I'm fine then all of a sudden it sneaks up on me...ever since I turned 48 I will be 50 in September this has been such a crazy ride I just would love to be normal again....I took a iron pill yesterday made me feel better cause I know I'm low in iron...but hours later I broke out in hives on my arms and knees...so won't take it any more until I see my doctor...im just trying to find a natural way to deal with this...it's been such a nightmare...take care

Mine was like that last year Stephanie. My bp. is much lower now and didnt take anything. It'seems just hormone fluctuations. Yesterday I took mine in the morning and it was 119/85. Fluctuates throughout the say, and stress is also a factor.

Hang in there Stephanie, probably in the next two years things will calm down a bit. I was a royal mess last year. Ultimate, worst time of my life, but it will get better.
