Irritation with lube

does anyone experience irritation with lube? I've been having a stinging pain on the vulva with Durex lube, I used to use coconut oil as lube but I was abit worried about getting thrush as I read that coconut oil is has anti bacterial properties, so didn't want to upset the bacterial balance. It's quite annoying as without lube sex and dilation would be painful as well

    Hi Jessicat,

I know my gynochologist recomended a lube called sylk as it is one of the ones that is closest to your natural lubricant.  It isn't cheap but I did notice a difference compared to KY which is probably similar to Durex, she said that those aren't that great as they often go a bit sticky and then cause friction ultimately.  Hopefully other ones such as this one won't cause the stinging and won't irritate, I know some people are alergic to different lubes too though.

My experience - no lube of any kind was pleasant.  So I/we only use coconut oil.  Afterwards I rinse with water in which a small amount of apple cider vinegar, which will restore the bacterial enviroment, I now know.  Amazing how things work.

    Hi Jessicat

    Have you tried KY?

no now I've only used Durex, does ky cause less irritation?

I have tried KY and Astroglide, they both cause lots of irritation! I had a Dr recommend Astroglide as it is water based, but it didn't work for me. I had another one recommend Sylk, which I haven't tried yet.

I use silk and still get uncomfortable after. So I wash it of straight after and put on my hydromol and this helps

    Hi Jessica,

Ive had lube problems recently. I use to use H2O really great nothing in it lube. Then my partner accidential used a different lube and everything hurt even my trusted H2O. Id burn after sex. Which can also be a friction sign fyi so not enough lube.

My gynie saw me and we decided it must be my lube as everything was fine. So I have now switched to sliquid organic (blue one).

Since then no problems, my gynie said sometimes we can suddenly stop 'liking' a lube... yay! Id give H2O or sliquid organic a try. The other one recommended to LS people is YES.

    Hope this helps.

Im always unsure about coconut oil, which you cant use with condoms anyway.

I know exactly what you mean. I can only use a product I found on amazon called "YES". Silver top. I have to bring it with me to the doctors office so they don't use their lube. Have had no adverse reactions. I can use alot since I only use dialators due to having had a vulvectomy. Hope this helps.
