Is 2000 calories best

Hi, It has occurred to me that as 2000 is the recommended calorie intake for a healthy lifestyle, should the activity level be increased to maintain this level, rather than cutting the calories to match the activity level.

I.e. if I only use, by my activity, 1500 calories and therefore cut my calorie intake to 1500, am I actually not providing the body with enough nutrients, vitamins etc., for a healthy body.
