I have been on sertraline 200mg for about 2 months now and still getting racing thoughts and horrible feeling of dread. Is it possible too high a dose? So fed up of feeling like this, just want back to my "happy self". Thanks so much to anyone for help. ????

Hi thanks for the message, yes the dose has been increased over about 5 months. Have seen 1 psychologist but we did not "connect" so am going to try some one else. My anxiety is all around the fear of losing control and going crazy, so I spend lots of time thinking what if, just want to be able to relax and not have my brain constantly churning ...

Have u had any cbt to help with thoughts - thoughts are not facts etc
Re being on 200 - other people are , I'm on 50 , 3 weeks in and feel knackered in the mornings , hard to get up
How does 200 affect u ?

Hi I think CBT will work when I find a psychologist I trust, I get frustrated as I know they are just thoughts but don't have the skills yet to manage it on my own. On the 200mg I just feel generally unsettled all the time, if I am super busy then I am ok, but the minute I stop, I instantly start feeling unsettled again.

Do you know how it started?
I'm 3 weeks in on 50 as I lost my job and could get a job as quickly as if hoped
This led to anxiety attacks
I found cbt helped me by using it in combination with relaxing breathing and telling my subconscious that nothing bad can happen, a job will come along soon , etc etc - seems to help calm me down,
The cbt stuff was self taught from online stuff - it's the link between thoughts that are not facts leading to anxious feelings that set off your sub conscious fight / flight fear response as a panic attack

Everyone is different. However I would advise that you give it a a couple/few months longer and then if nothing changes go back and see your GP. I have been on 200mg for quite a while now and they certainly helped. Yes I suffered from side effects, but to be honest I only realised recently that that is what they were. I was just grateful to get through a very difficult patch in my life etc. All the best.
