Is a bath possible?

Just passed the four week post op of a THR left leg and would really love a bath.

Is there a technique that can be used without buying hoists and the like? Somebody please say yes.

We went to stay in a hotel recently which had a bath with handles. I managed to get in but getting out was  a real problem so I let the water out, turned over and climbed out that way!! Haven't yet tried it at home as no handles!

You should not sit in a bath for at least 3 months.  It is extremely unwise as you will bend your hip past the 90 degrees both getting in and out.  I am 3 weeks post op and cannot even get in a bath to use the shower.  Last time I had a THR on the other side it was about 10 weeks before I could even step in the shower using a foot stool because of swollen knee.  I can understand how you feel as I love a bath too and at the moment I am having to use buses to go to relatives for showers which is a real pain.
