Is anxiety messing with my sleep ?

Over the past week I've noticed that I've always been waking up around 9am every day. I've also been getting about 6 hours of sleep each day. I've been feeling somewhat rested with the exeption of alittle morning anxiety.
Today was abit weird. I still woke up around 9am and this morning I felt VERY tense and my heart was beaking quite quickly. I went to sleep just 3 hours before and I woke up not feeling all that tired ?
I am seeing a doctor and seeing two counselors and have made improvements over the 6+ months since being diagnosed with GAD ( according to the doctors ). It seems like anxiety comes up with something new to mess with me when I make progress.
Is there any insight or advice anyone can give ?

Are you sleeping during the day.
Or are you sleeping six hours through the night, if you are getting six hous sleep overnight that means you are going to bed at aound 0300 and awakeing at nine, six hours
You have been diagnosed with GAD, and your Anxiety is of various concerns are they health or work related. If you have a family are they ausing you concens ?

I did for a short period of time have trouble getting to sleep but that passed after about a week when I basically got fed up and looked at myself in the mirror and said " You know what.... If you want to force me to stay up then I'll stay up....you want to go all night and I will too BUT it will be on MY terms !! ".
Believe it or not it was as simple as that and the next few days after that I started to beable to sleep better. The weird thing is that whats happening now seems to be very new. It seems like every time I come up with a way to help myself, the anxiety finds ways to add another problem to the mix.
My family is the main reason why I have GAD. Its a very long story

Anxiety can throw different symptoms at you at any time.
Especially if your starting to get your mind calm ... because the physical symptoms can still present themselves for a while afterwards.
Which you have to remind your self it's the anxiety after effects .. otherwise the circle starts again..
You worry get anxious and it feeds the anxiety.
So try not to anx about the sleep. Try getting to bed earlier just for sleep no TV etc.. and wake up earlier.
Your cortisol levels are higher in a morning and take a time to wear off. So get up earlier and go for a walk or similar xx

You're so right on everything here.
I've shown good improvement over the past 6 months and all without medication ( as said by my counselors and GP ). Yet it seems like every time I make a gain, the anxiety throws me another curveball and adds something new.
I can tell I'm improving BUT it bothers me that the "symptoms" keep persisting and forcing me to stay in that hole. I'll continue to strive to get better nomatter what but its so confusing when I'm being told I'm making progress yet it feels more like two steps forward and one step back.

Please do not feel bad or like you're not progressing because you have a crappy day, GAD will do this to you, it's not that you're not making progress it's just that these issue takes over every fibre of you if they have the chance! Please take two minutes a day if you're feeling okay and think; do you know what I'm okay right now, in an hour I may not be, but right now I am, this shows me I am having light moments, hang onto them as best you can!

Yes the physical symptoms that linger are frustrating. I remember when i was getting there.. And stood in the kitchen i started feeling dizzy again .. i was just about to go into panic mode , then remebered this is just anxiety and it went lol.
So i continued to do that.
Its not easy as the physical symptoms are so real.. and the anxiety throws so much stuff at you..
But be a warrior now not a worrier you can do this , eventually it will be 4 steps forward and one back then 8 forward and one back and so on until your on track.
Keep up the good work 😊😊😊

I'm sorry you're having a tough time John. I just wanted to say I go through exactly the same thing, morning times are an absolute killer for me, I think it's because I worry about what problem will
Overtake my mind today!! Im sweaty, I feel sick, I'm shakey, it's awful, I know what you're going through. Only thing I try and do is keep busy and hope that the feeling passes, what more can we do?
How is the therapy going for you? I hope it's helping 😀
