      Hi Sharon

I’ve experienced this as well. No OB for 10 years then bang! One every month.

      Did you find out why?

I’m currently going through blood tests to try to determine if there is an issue before I start daily meds.

I think that any type of stress will bring out genital herpes.  I have had it now for 40 years (yup, it doesn't ever go away).  I receive the supressive therapy as well.  I recently had the most painful outbreak of my life.  The pain also came with itching over my entire body.  It was a nightmare!  I used topical Acyclovir which helped some, but because stress was so central, my doctor gave me Lorazepam (Ativan) for anxiety.  The itching and pain reduced significantly,  The pain stopped after 2 weeks and the pain is just about gone.  You might want to make note whether high stress causes bad outbreaks, and perhaps your doctor can remedy some of this nightmare for you.  I hope this was of help.

I’ve now had the virus for 3 years going on 4 it was the hardest thing to ever have to hear from my doctor that I had this virus , I was depressed for almost a year and still haven’t told anyone about it . I didn’t get much outbreaks in the beginning but about 1 1/2 to 2 years later they became more frequent so my new doctor then had me start taking valtrex in 2016 .

if I take it daily as I’m suppose to I don’t get OB’s at all , but I get lazy and miss days and sometimes weeks . And when I’m stressed I get an outbreak so I then take two capsules and the outbreak usually last about two days , I can’t always tell when I’m getting one but sometimes I do know . Just this year so far I’ve had one at least once a month . My outbreaks is always in the same place and it’s always just one bump or whatever. It saddens me but I have gotten a lot better about having it . There’s times when I forget I even have it because I have no flare ups . But I am also still not sexually active or even interesting in meeting a new guy . I had my first and only child in 2012 I had been celibate since and decided a year later to have sex one time with a guy I’m no longer with and he gave me herpes due to sleeping with multiple women and he denied it for months.
