Is Anyone Else having issues with Brower slowing down or Pop-up Messages?

Hi All,

Has anyone else experienced their browser slowing down due to the amount of Flash-based adverts being shown per page is at least 5. I keep getting a pop-up from the browser stating a script on the page as stopped working or do I wish to wait. If I click wait then all Flash ads stop working completely. I am running Firefox 33.0.1 which I checked and it is the latest for Windows 8.1 Pro.

Firefox 33.0.1 eats up around 15% from a restart which is roughly 213Mb

However, Flash on pages is pulling much more.

Adobe Flash Player 15 rev0 (32bit) 720Mb

I only use Firefox because of the extensions available and web developer tools. I run all applications in a 64bit environment with 16Gb of RAM, so it plenty to cope the a sudden surge.

I am puzzled....rolleyes

Regards,

Les.

I have been having problems with Flash lately.  I use Opera and it keeps suggesting I disable Flash because it is 'slowing my browser down'

I haven't got to the bottom of this yet - I haven't had time to do a lot of fiddling!!

Flash is causing my browser to crash, so I disable it until I need it again.  Will research later today!

There seems to be an issue with Flash and certain browsers. It was affecting my Kindle but I got around it by updating the Flash, even though it is not Possible with the standard Chrome browser the Kindle uses. I downloaded Dolphin browser and got the Flash Object Helper working on it. That allowed me to remove Chrome.

What a pain (No pun intended there! lol), it seems to be okay at the moment, Firefox is another matter since it uses a different Flash version.

      Les.

The main problem with using Flash these days is Adobe are in the process of dropping it, more commonly known as the "End of Life" of the product. So when you got the giant companies like Google that is flooding your page with adverts based on keywords that it's causing issues with certain browsers.

The reason I was concerned about these ads deriving from Google because it was only recently, that Google was compromised and was flooding websites with malicious code, it was the second time this year!

      Regards,

      Les.

P.S:- Anti-spam or Anti- Virus applications when a virus is coded a away to clone itself and change it's name and look - these are dangerous, more so than RansomWare which encrypts all your documents, images, videos, etc, then demands around $300 if you want the key to unlock your own files. The problem with this is, many people never see their money again or encrypted files.

How much RAM does your system have? Do you monitor its usage with meters on your taskbar? Do you shut Firefox down completely every day? It is very easy to overlook those bits of disabled RAM that mount up on busy days.

Flash has been a problem but my recent experiences have been OK. I have scripts disabled as a default and then enable those I need. Occasionally this creates a delay but that is better than before when constant interruptions were a regular nuisance.

      Hi Jaguar,

My current system should easily handle a Flash object in a browser, I have 16Gb of physical RAM, 4.1Ghz CPU. The system originally came with a 1Tb HDD and a lower standard GFX card, so I did add a 2Tb HDD, 128Gb SDD and a new 2GB GFX card. The OS is 8.1 Pro, but what I did not cater for was the increase in current, so I 'popped' one power supply, and now on my second which I personally think needs changing for an higher wattage one. Me and PSU's don't mix and the times I 'pop' them is unreal. I should really measure the current this lot is pulling. I only use the SSD for the main OS, so it is a fast boot, the other 3Tb's HDD is just storage.

      Regards,

      Les.

A new version was released today of Firefox 33.0.2 - so far there has been no problems, and the Flash player is running at a steady 23Mb compared to nearly 2,000Mb a few days ago.

I did try Internet Explorer (not a browser I would recommend) but that was not causing Flash to run up an excessive use.

I expect Frustrated will be along soon, hopefully she is no longer seeing the popups either.

      Regards,

      Les.

Many thanks, Les. That is useful good news.

New problem on Private Messages. I have informed Emis via a Chatroom Discussion.
