Is anyone in my boat?

Hi All, nice to meet you and thanks in advance for any insight you may have. Is anyone in my boat? Here are my symtoms:

1) I can be normal for months and then have a flare come on out of nowhere. Does not seem to be related to stress or anything else.

2) Diarrhea that gets worse and worse if I don't come up with a way to treat it. Will eventually start bleeding.

3) No stomach pain or cramping whatsoever. Never constipation. Alwasy the opposite.

4) I get regular colonoscopies and doctor says everything looks normal.

5) Whatever I use to get it under control never works a second time.

6) I tried the fodmap diet on my doctor's advice and it made me 10 times worse.

I'm in the middle of a bad flare right now, I can't leave the house.

Thanks in advance.

Emmm sounds odd. Have you had a ct scan?

Have you had a lactose test?

It sounds like ibs especially as you have an all clear colonoscopy. Have you been tested for microscopic Colitis??? Is your weight stable.

I am definitely lactose intolerant and I stay away from dairy altogether. But dairy doesn't seem to affect a flare up one way or the other, just makes me gassy.

Regarding a CT scan, no, I have not had that, nor have I heard of it for this type of situation. Can you tell me what that would determine?

Regarding microscopic colitis, I've never heard of that. Can you tell me how one can get tested for that? Is it a stool test?

My weight is stable as long as I keep taking in a lot of calories.

      Thank you for your feedback.

Micro colitis is a form of colitis that can be controlled with one of the 5 ASAs

It may have been done as a biopsy so you must ask. It cannot be seen like colitis during your camera test. Google it will give you the best understanding

What has your doctor suggested?  If you have bleeding with IBS it may because of haemorrhoids, or fissures..  Bleeding is not an IBS symptom though. However, IBD can make you bleed.  Microscopic colitis can only be seen under a microscope.
