I have just been proscribed Citalopram 10mg for my anxiety and low mood, just wondering if anyone has taken it and what their side effects were? Did it help you with you're anxiety? I'm abit worried about taking them, Iv never taken anti depressants before.

Im on day 15 of taking it, the first week was hell for me, I had all the symptoms, and hightened anxiety, but today i feel more mellow, i only feel a bit dizzy and with headache, so hopefully it's working...Eveyone here says it takes up to 8 weeks to fully work, and some ppl have been on them for yrs. So with everyone's help on here well get through it. Dont get discouraged....it gets worse before it gets better.

I have been on it once, never again. It made me feel as if I was going off my head. I would never touch anxiety meds now,I stick to therapy

I was put on 10mg citalopram for anxiety a few months ago. I lasted 10 days on them and had to stop because of the side effects. They made me constantly sick so I lost too much weight but it's different for everyone, some people won't get any side effects smile good luck xx

Hi Niamh I was on those for years and didn't help me much so I decided to go off them..but everyone is different.  I have been on so many different antidepressants and other meds since I was 12...and apart from depression and anxiety I also suffer a nervous condition just to top it off...hope you are feeling better soon

It depends on your body. It is good for anxieties but it may help you or it may not. I would try it for a month or so and if you are having anxieties talk to your doctor about lorazepam, generic for ativan that helps with anxieties too.

Good luck with trying the medication
