Is ELISA IgG reliable for herpes 2 at 40 days???

I read that at 12 days ELISA already finds antibody IgG in blood stream.

Better to be conservative in these matters, as not everyone produces IgG in the same quantities at the same rate and you want to know for sure, right? With that in mind: One month, maybe detectable; two months, probably; three months, very rare not to be; four months, even better than three months, but not necessary to wait this long.

My doctor said since I had Herpes 1 in the past and my IgG came back negative for herpes 2 at 40 days, my genital ulcers could be from herpes 1, since nowadays both herpes 1 and 2 can lead to genitali ulceration. Let me tell you my story. I had protected sex with a woman (with condom). Then like 7 to 10 days later my penis began to scratch. An white stain began to appear around the ring of the gland and an ulcer appeared, no water blisters though, direct ulcer. Than another one came out, then another one since the point of my penis having like 20 ou 30 ulcers, both gland and foreskin. My doctor told me that it was not herpes because the lesions didn’t appear like herpes, there were no blisters whatsoever, only ulcers. First the antibiotics worked a little and the my penis was not that infected anymore, no more redness, etc. some ulcers were gone but always another popped out. Then it went bad again and antibiotics didn’t seem to have any effect anymore. I went to another doctor, a dermatologist this time, not urologist, and he said that herpes 2 with ELISA 40 days is enough and since my normal IGM and IGG (not específic test to a condition, just normal general Igg and IGM tests) came back normal, there was not any infection, and that I should do a test for cytomegalovirus and Epstein Barr Virus, once my penis were in such a bad condition, not worse than the beggining but very bad still. He told me if my test came back negative for herpes 4 and 5, this could be either Herpes 1 that I have or some kind of auto immune condition. But this is since early September man, it’s crazy huh?

Funny thing is the dermatologist gave me antivirals and it’s beginning to get better, so my guess it’s viral. But at the beggining of the antibiotics it began to heal as well and then went bad again, so I don’t know

If you already have HSV1, in theory you ought to be immune from acquiring it elsewhere. Also, first herpes outbreaks occur at the site of viral entry, so if the sex were truly protected with no other risk, you should only get an outbreak around the base, if anywhere. I thus don't think it is herpes either, but also don't know what else it could be. Fyi, the IgM test is not reliable for herpes, so should not be ordered and can be ignored, whatever the results.

Actually my IGG with 40 days came back negative for herpes 2 and positive for herpes 1. I don’t remember having any outbreak of herpes 1 before, so There’s a possibility from oral sex on me by the girl? Regarding HIV, I heard the forth generation ELISA with p24 are very accurate even before 20 days, right? So with 40 days negative can I relax?

Many people carry HSV1 without symptoms, so you could have had it from ages ago and not known. Without a negative test ever, it's impossible to say. The p24 component is only applicable to the HIV test. Yes, it is pretty good at 14 days, but 4-6 weeks is better. This has no bearing on the HSV tests, just to be clear.
