Is everyone here in meds?

I'm curious if everyone is in meds? If so what meds and how long have you been in them? How long have you had dizziness? Do you have anxiety? Do you find your anxious a lot or inky when your dizzy?

I'm scared of meds and I have this awful feeling I need them, esp coz of the anxiety that comes with this.

I see so many on meds and wonder have you had to stay on them? Did you ever stop and you were ok?

Thanks for all your answers

Hey! I was on stemitil for my dizziness and onedanstron for nausea but stopped taking them after two weeks as I heard they don't help the brain to compensate for how we feel. I'm on week 8 of VN now. Anxiety is a big thing for me, I have never suffered with anxiety until I had this illness and I tried to go about it the natural way but wasn't helping so now I'm on a low dose Prozac. It's only been 7 days so can't comment much about it but I have noticed I can drive now without feeling anxious. I highly suggest going on something to help. I was so against it but anxiety can set us back so I decided the pros outweighed the cons. I am hoping to only be on it short term.

      Thanks for replying.

I've noticed that most of the meds everyone takes are antidepressants and anxiety so it makes me wonder how much anxiety has to do with the whole thing overall. It's odd how many people have anxiety and can't get it under control. I just think it's odd.

I hope your meds work for you. I wish I could find it in me to take them. The only thing I can take is Xanax without effects. I guess ill talked to my psychologist about it. I honestly don't know what's wrong with me.

      But thanks for listening

Have u been diagnosed with something?

Anxiety can make you feel dizzy, nauseous, light headed etc so I think if you can get it under control it will help hugely. The inner ear and brain seem to be so closely linked that most people who suffer inner ear conditions for some time always seem to end up with anxiety too!

The ENT said it MAV and confirmed by my taking the Amitripyline and it helping the dizziness and the tension headaches I was having. But it increased the anxiety. Since nortriptyline is in the same family I'm concerned that will happen again. It made the anxiety the worst I've ever had, and reading the effects I worry. I just wonder if getting the anxiety help with cbt I can do it without meds.

I appreciate so much your chatting with me, it really helps. Thank you

How long did u try the amitripyline? I found with the Prozac it heightened my anxiety! It was so awful but today is my first "ok" day and I will give it a good go for three weeks before deciding whether I need to change it or not. I know it's really hard but sometimes we have to try things to see if they will work. Before I was given Prozac I did my research and a lot of people said it made them worse for three weeks before they got better, and side effects were anxiety and dizziness. It put me in such a state I was terrified to try it. We are all made up differently, one persons "bad" story may be your good! Anxiety is awful. Someone just told me to google PPPD. I found it quite interesting!

I was on a MAV support site when this all started. The ones who got better and came back to post about it said you will feel worse for up to several weeks before you get better on the various meds. For me, this is difficult since I have to work / commute, and dr was not willing to take me of on disability for a few weeks. So had to start low on a med that I've found isn't the one of choice for MAV, but helped for awhile. I am still not back to normal, but can function in my job.

Funny what someone said about prozac. I took it years ago for regular anxiety - started low and worked up. It was fantastic for me. Recently. I thought I'd try it again since I did so well last time, and got full spins vertigo after the first low dose after over a year of no outright vertigo!
