Hi Michael. To answer your question I would need to know your BMI. If you are over weight and missing lunch and have no diagnosed health conditions then it shouldn't be a problem.

I'm pretty sure that's a healthy weight. I think if you feel hungry at lunch time you should eat but if you are self-conscious about your body then just focus on eating healthily

    HI Michael,

Sorry to hear about your struggles. I'm sure the poster below is trying to be helpful, but a low or high BMI isn't the measure for whether someone does or doesn't have an eating disorder. It is significantly more complex than that, and you can be apparently "healthy" and be really unwell at the same time.

As this is a forum which is made up of the general public and not qualified professionals I would make an appointment with your GP to discuss this. Regardless of whether it is or isn't an eating disorder, there is clearly something upsetting you.

Beat (the UK's eating disorder charity) have some good advice on their website including a very handy leaflet to help you prepare for a GP session. I'd recommend asking for a double appointment too.

You could also give Beat's helpline a call or join one of their online support groups. Beat's helplines are free, completely confidential and don't appear on the bill. The phoneline is open 7 days a week, 365 days of the year, and from 3pm - 10pm.

Assuming you are male, I would also be prepared to highlight that at least 1.25million people are estimated to suffer with some form of eating disorder and of that total 1 in 4 are male. Men Get Eating Disorders Too offer some good information for male sufferers.

That said, I'm not going to diagnose and say you do have one, rather to encourage you to speak to someone about how you are feeling.
